The Highfields RSL Sub Branch held its Annual General Meeting and election of officer bearers at the Highfields Tavern on 21 February 2012. 

The members of the sub branch re-elected the executive committee for a further 12 months with the positions remaining as; President - Mr. Steven Dudley, Deputy President - Mr. Barry Baldwin, Secretary - Mr. Al Taylor and Treasurer - Mr. Gordon Alden. 

To assist the executive committee the members also elected Michael Morgan, Gordon Hutchison, Graham Bourne, Norm Child, Kev Bailey and Gordon Robinson to the position of committee members. 

In his report to the meeting, the President, thanked the members of the previous committee for their hard work and dedication to the Sub Branch over many years. He also welcomed the new members and said that he looked forward to working with them all in the coming year. The President explained to the meeting that the focus of the sub branch this year would be working with council and the community to facilitate the upgrade of the Community Memorial outside the cultural centre. He said he was hopefully that stage one would be completed in time for ANZAC day with the remainder of the work to continue later in the year. 

The meeting was also attended by the President of the RSL Western District, Mr. Max Foot, OAM and his wife Lynn. Max addressed the meeting and explained some developments from a District and State perspective and how this would affect the sub branch. In closing Max thanked the committee and members for their support of the league and for their hospitably. Finally he made a presentation of a Certificate of Application and Australian Day Medallion, from RSL Queensland and the Australia Day Committee to Al Taylor for his never ending hard work and devotion to the RSL and the veteran community as sub branch secretary for the last 4 years.
