Packages for the Troops

Again in 2012 the sub branch sent care packages to the troops serving in Afghanistan. A total of 54 boxes were prepared by sub branch members and sent with the assistance of sub branch member and RSM of 7 Signal Regiment  Warrant Officer Class 1 Peter Quinn.

The secretary of the sub branch, Al Taylor and his wife Yvonne did the majority of the work and their hard work is indeed an assist to the sub branch. Some of the ladies from the sub branch and other local Highfields ladies knitted some skull caps (beanies) which the troops can wear under their combat helmets or any other time, which helps to ward off the bitter Afghan winter.

We would also like to thank the proprietor, staff and suppliers of the Discount Drug Store, Plaza Circuit, Highfields, who supplied a large amount of the medical and personal items in the packages.

Below are the details of the packages, a letter from the sub branch President to the troops, along with emails and letters of thanks from the members serving overseas.
